No Search Warrant?

Can the police search my vehicle with a search warrant?

Yes. If the police officer makes a lawful traffic stop they can search your car under certain circumstances. A lawful traffic stop would be, at the minimum, they can articulate a “reasonable belief” that an individual has violated some aspect of the law. As well, they can search if an active warrant is found when running the individual’s name in their computer system. The officer, however, can detain an individual (and the passengers) only for a reasonable time.
